Course content
This is a very interactive course during which participants will increase their confidence and communication skills by taking part in a full day of practical exercises.
Delegates are not thrown in at the "deep end", but through the practical exercises will build up their skills gradually during the day.
Participants will particularly increase their abilities in the following areas:
- overcoming the fear everyone feels
- how to achieve a confident start and grab attention
- projecting your voice
- pausing for effect – and to remember what comes next
- using eye-contact to show confidence
- how to read your notes AND look at the audience
- techniques to avoid showing nervousness
- what to do if you go 'blank'
- how to keep your audience interested
- dealing with questions
- using visual aids
- how to stand, move and use gestures
- how to cope with 'experts' in your audience
- the best ways to write your presentation
- making a memorable conclusion
Most participants attend this course to improve their business communication skills when presenting ideas, persuading people, pitching for business or selling – however the course is also extremely beneficial for personal communication such as wedding speeches.
It is not necessary to bring any presentation material to this course. However if you wish to bring all or part of a presentation on a memory stick and also a hard copy, this can then be used during some of the practical exercises. The presenter will also be pleased to provide you with feedback on your slide design.
You may wear any clothing you wish. However to make the practical exercises as realistic for you as possible and to assist in looking at what you may do with your hands etc, we would suggest wearing the clothes that you would typically wear for a presentation.
