Aim of the Course
The tax issues relating to private homes should be straightforward – but they are not. Whether it is the CGT exemption for the main residence, interest relief for let property, or IHT planning, there are a surprising number of pitfalls or tax planning opportunities which will be relevant to a large percentage of your clients. This course will give practical guidance to help you save them tax on transactions to do with their family home.
Course Content
- Maximising the main residence exemption – more than half a hectare
- CGT on marriage or divorce – and ‘not a marriage’ separations
- Interest relief on letting – claiming more than you thought!
- Home office – what percentage of expenses can be claimed?
- The dwelling exemption – keeping the Inspector out
