Practical and Portfolio Work

Candidates complete formative assessments and mini practical tests in centre before building an on site portfolio under a Gas Safe mentor. Successful delivery includes a formal LCL Awards MLP completion certificate.

Entry Requirements

Should I enrol on this course?

This course suits both newcomers and those with experience.

  • No formal gas entry qualifications are required.
  • Candidates must have English and maths at Level 1 standard.
  • All participants require access to on site gas work under a registered Gas Safe engineer for at least 18 weeks to build portfolio evidence.

Structure & Routes

There are two delivery routes:

New Entrants (DNGA3 NE)

  • Full centre based MLP programme (typically 4–6 weeks), followed by supervised on site work.

Experienced Operatives (APL or RPL variant)

  • Accelerated pathway for applicants with related trade qualifications, involving selective modules and direct transition to on site portfolio building.

Whichever route you follow, expect guided learning hours as defined by LCL Awards, plus mentor verified portfolio completion within one year.

Learning Outcomes

What skills will I gain?

By programme completion, learners will be able to:
