The next amendment, Amendment 4, is expected in 2026. Amendment 3:2024 remains the current update to BS 7671:2018. By taking our courses, electricians can be confident they are learning the most current standards, including all newly released amendments.
The most recent amendment to the 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018) is Amendment 3:2024, published in July 2024. This update introduces new regulations for electrical installations, including requirements for the flow of electricity in one direction and marking of devices to ensure compliance and safety in systems such as solar PV and battery storage. Our courses include all updates as they are released, so learners are always fully up to date with the latest requirements.
Our BS 7671 Amendment 4 (2026) guide outlines everything electricians need to know.
The IET has not announced any plans or dates for the 19th edition. There is currently no confirmed release schedule, and claims suggesting a 2025 release are incorrect. The next update will be the 18th Edition Amendment 4, scheduled for publication in 2026.
We strongly advise learners not to delay taking a City & Guilds 2382 course. Staying up-to-date with the current standards ensures compliance and safety. While the 19th edition may eventually follow, the 18th edition remains the industry standard, and completing your qualification now keeps your skills and certification current.
