City & Guilds 2382-26 18th Edition Amendment 4 Update Course with Exam
Suitable for those with a 2382-22 qualification
Stay up to date with the latest IET Wiring Regulations by completing our 1 Day 18th Edition Amendment 4 Update Course. Designed specifically for electricians and electrical professionals who already hold the City & Guilds 2382 qualification, this course focuses exclusively on the changes introduced in BS 7671:2018+A4:2026.
Rather than repeating the full 18th Edition syllabus, this update course focuses on the Amendment 4 changes, helping you understand their impact on electrical installations and industry best practice. You’ll also be prepared for the City & Guilds 2382-26 exam, ensuring your knowledge is aligned with the latest UK Wiring Regulations.

Why Enrol in the 18th Edition Amendment 4 Update Course?
If you already hold the City & Guilds 2382 qualification, this update course covers Amendment 4 while also recapping the key requirements of BS 7671. At the end of the course, you’ll sit the full two-hour 2382-26 examination, providing evidence that your knowledge has been assessed against the latest Wiring Regulations.
Following the City & Guilds syllabus, this classroom-based course helps you refresh your understanding of the Wiring Regulations, prepare for the 2382-26 examination, and demonstrate your knowledge of BS 7671:2018+A4:2026.
Don’t have the 2382 qualification? See our 3-day Full 18th Edition Course.
What does the 18th Edition Amendment 4 course cover?
The course focuses on the changes introduced by Amendment 4, with your instructor explaining each update in detail and how it affects electrical installation work.
Course topics
The course covers changes in the following areas:
- Scope, object and fundamental principles
- Definitions
- Assessment of general characteristics and earthing arrangements
- Protection for safety, including basic and fault protection
- Selection and erection of equipment
- Inspection and testing
- Special installations and locations
- Use of appendices
Throughout the day, your instructor will work through the Wiring Regulations, highlighting the amendments introduced in BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 while recapping the key areas of BS 7671 to prepare you for the full two-hour City & Guilds 2382-26 online examination.
This update course ensures you’re ready to work to the latest edition of the Wiring Regulations after Amendment 4 comes into effect.
There is no requirement to retake the City & Guilds 2382-26 exam simply because you already hold an 18th Edition qualification. Many electricians keep their knowledge up to date through continuing professional development (CPD) and other learning activities.
At PASS, we have chosen not to offer a CPD-only update course. Instead, our one-day Amendment 4 update includes the full City & Guilds 2382-26 examination, giving you both an update on the latest Wiring Regulations and formal evidence that your knowledge has been assessed against BS 7671:2018+A4:2026.
Bodies, such as building control, will look for all notifiable work to be to Amendment 4 so it may be in your best interest to be fully up to date.
For a relatively small additional cost, many electricians choose to sit the exam while they’re updating their knowledge. It provides a recognised qualification that can support employer, contractor or competent person scheme requirements, while also helping to future-proof your qualification should evidence of Amendment 4 knowledge be requested.
The course remains suitable after 15 October 2026; however, electricians should aim to update their knowledge before this date. From 15 October 2026, BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 becomes the current standard, following the withdrawal of the previous version.
To remain aligned with current industry expectations, electricians should ensure they are familiar with Amendment 4 when designing, installing, inspecting and testing electrical installations. If certification is completed using an edition of BS 7671 other than the one used for the installation, the applicable standard must be clearly identified on the relevant documentation.
Completing the 18th Edition Amendment 4 Update Course ensures your knowledge is up to date and helps demonstrate continued competence with the latest Wiring Regulations.
The 18th Edition Amendment 4 Update Course is designed for electricians who already hold the City & Guilds 2382-18 or 2382-22 qualification. Rather than covering the entire 18th Edition syllabus again, this one-day course focuses solely on the changes introduced in BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 before preparing you for the City & Guilds 2382-26 examination.
If you don’t already hold the 2382 qualification, you’ll need to complete our full 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382-26) course, which covers the complete syllabus from start to finish.
Yes, provided you hold the City & Guilds 2382-18 or 2382-22 qualification.
However, if it’s been some time since you last used the Wiring Regulations, you may wish to spend some time refreshing your knowledge before attending, as the course assumes you’re already familiar with the previous edition.
Do I need to study before attending?
Yes. As this is an intensive one-day update course, delegates are expected to have a good working knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, including the changes introduced in Amendments 2 and 3, before attending.
The course focuses on the new requirements introduced in Amendment 4, with a brief recap of previous amendments. As the City & Guilds 2382-26 examination covers the full 18th Edition syllabus, delegates are encouraged to refresh their knowledge before the course.
If you hold the older City & Guilds 2382-18 qualification, it’s particularly important to familiarise yourself with the changes introduced in Amendments 2 and 3 before attending, as these topics are included in the examination but are not covered in detail during the one-day update course.
